about hos os

Hi, my name is Hunter Null, and I’m the creator of HOS OS. I started developing HOS OS in late 2019 as a high school summer project. What began as a small initiative has grown into a fully functioning operating system that I have been continuously developing over the years.

The first-ever version of HOS OS was released in late May 2020, during the height of the pandemic. Since then, I’ve been steadily working on improvements, moving forward at my own pace.

In 2020, HOS OS 2.6 was made public, marking the first major version available to users. The next milestone came with the release of HOS OS 3.X in June 2021, adding significant improvements and features.

The next major update came with the release of HOS OS 3.X in June 2021, designed to build upon the baseline system requirements of 2.6 while adding a fresh coat of paint to make the system easier to use. This version was reviewed by DistroWatch in March 2022. Although the reviews were mixed, I took the feedback as an opportunity to make the OS more user-friendly, particularly for newcomers.

HOS OS 4.X release on January 1, 2023, was a major step forward in streamlining the design and enhancing usability. This update introduced new features like improved search functionality and a touchscreen mode, making HOS OS more adaptable for touchscreen computing.

For me, HOS OS is more than just a project—it’s a passion-driven journey. It reflects my dedication to learning programming while crafting an OS tailored for my own workflow and the specific needs of my work.
